3 Lessons for Women Leaders from New Zealand Prime Minister

“Leadership is not a position or a title, it is action and example”. At the time of turbulence, leadership is the hope of all the followers. In the male dominant world, New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern set an example for all the women around the world by facing, fighting, and defeating the obstacles better than anyone else. Though there are many points to ponder, three prominent characteristics can be highlighted in her leadership style.

1. Empathy in a Crisis

The Christchurch attack on March 15, 2019 was the first dreadful event faced by the prime minister after taking the office in October 2017. The event which killed more than 50 innocent people, was challenging as both the crisis and people need to be handled. She wore a hijab at the mourning and launch a campaign against racism in the same year. Her body language and emotions were heartfelt, where the entire country grieve in sorrow.

This very incident could seed civil unrest through religious disparities, but her empathetic leadership set a higher standard on humanity and spread peace instead of violence. Naturally women possessed more empathy and kindness…
