Controlling COVID 19-Struggle of a Developing Country
Today is the 40th day of the complete lock down of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The people movements in the country have kept in minimal and district crossing is extremely prohibited. The essential services and products are being provided online and individuals with valid passes are only allowed inroads.
The world pandemic of covid19 is not required any lengthy explanations, as almost all the people in the world are aware of it. Due to the highly contagious nature of the disease every country has to tighten its safety measures to face the threat at any given time. Since the world has become a global village, it was crystal clear that none of the countries could escape. Sri Lanka, a tiny island in the Indian Ocean was no exception to this global medical emergency.
Pandemic in Sri Lanka
The first COVID 19 infection reported in Sri Lanka was on the 27th of January, a Chinese tourist from Hubei province. Fortunately, she had a rapid recovery and left the country after a few weeks. The calm before the storm is deadly. There were no COVID 19 cases reported for one and a half months, until 10th March where a Sri Lankan tour guide associated with Italian tourists got infected.
