My Experience of Vaccination Program
Covid 19 is not a strange thing for the entire world at this moment. The vaccination programs also kick-start all around the world as the sole solution to combat the pandemic. With the vaccination drive, the developing nations also are struggling to vaccine the citizens.
The hardest battle in those countries is the administration of the vaccine. The administration is difficult mainly because the citizen data is not computerized or centralized. Due to this, manually written vaccination cards are provided. Not only it takes time to ask the name, address, and allergies of each individual the officers who are to administrate the center also are exhausted through this process.
The ideal way to manage the vaccination is to give the people a time slot to come. It can be done via email or SMS or WhatsApp. The lack of a citizen database is the biggest nightmare in this scenario. In Sri Lanka, most of the public sector employees are at the basic level of computer literacy. So as the ‘Grama sewaka’, who is the chief admin officer for the particular area and other administrative staff. Though it’s not a difficult task to enter the citizen information into a database at a local village level, it hasn’t been done for decades.
